Buying Votes

from NHL Digest,
If a fan feels that a player deserves to be in the All-Star Game, the fans should vote accordingly. Fans should not be influenced by the lure of autographed merchandise, tickets and/or other prizes.
It is one thing for creative fans to try to hustle votes, but an entirely different thing for an organization to attempt to essentially buy votes for its players.
What do you think?

I would get worked up over this if the All-Star game actually meant something. It is basically a popularity contest anyway (re: Huet as starter) so why not give away prizes as well? If we are worried about the integrity of the selection process leave it to anyone but the fans and Colin Campbell.

I vote for players for teams other than the ones I cheer for. That way they can get tired and the players I like can rest nagging injuries and get ready for the rest of the season.

Paul,
Thanks again for the link-up.
I feel very strongly on this issue and there are already some heated comments on the article at NHL Digest.
I firmly believe that fans need to have their say, but like any election, it should be as unbiased as possible.
