From Jesse Spector at The Blueshirts Blog:
One more injury for the Rangers in this MASH unit regular season, and it’s a big one. Ryan Callahan is “out indefinitely” with a broken ankle, and John Tortorella called it a “long-term” issue after the winger blocked a Zdeno Chara slap shot late in the third period of last night’s 5-3 win over the Bruins at the Garden.
Callahan, who returned to the lineup on February 1 after breaking his hand blocking a Kris Letang shot on December 15 in Pittsburgh, will not need surgery.
Video below shows shot block which caused the injury:

They’re saying the same thing about the Canucks with Malhotra out

This is why the NHL has to look at penalizing players for leaving their feet in order to block shots or passes.
Not only does it suck offense out of the game, it prevents injuries like this one.

And in front of a Zdeno Chara cannon from the blue. Couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Rangers.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

This kills any chance they had of a deep playoff run in my opinion as Callahan was a huge part of the team.
