from the Buffalo News,
The Buffalo Sabres defenseman skated with his teammates in the Amherst Pepsi Center this morning, two days before the NHL trade deadline. Campbell was optimistic the deadline will come and he won’t go.
“Yeah, that’s the only way I can look at it, though,“he said. “I can’t look at it any other way. I think we’re still in a playoff spot or we’re close, and we’ve got a lot of work to do. It’s not going to be easy, and I hope I can be around for that.”
Campbell also said, “We’ll see what happens over the next couple months,” meaning from his standpoint, the trade deadline is not a contract deadline. He will be an unrestricted free agent July 1.
