Canes Looking For Puck Moving Defenseman

from the News & Observer,

The Hurricanes are trying to make a swap of defensemen, and general manager Jim Rutherford confirmed Monday that the deal is being delayed while a Carolina player decides whether to waive his no-trade clause….
Wallin, Mike Commodore, Tim Gleason and Dennis Seidenberg would be the players likely to be involved in any trade to bring in a puck-moving defenseman, but only Wallin has a no-trade clause.
At 32, with three years left on his contract at an affordable $1.725 million, Wallin would be an attractive pickup for any team.
The Philadelphia Flyers may be the most likely trade partner, with 23-year-old Joni Pitkanen, the fourth pick in the 2002 draft, on the trading block. Pitkanen, a restricted free agent, is headed for arbitration if he remains with the Flyers.
