Canucks No Longer Control Their Destiny

from Matthew Sekeres of the Globe and Mail,
The Canucks, a defensive team that makes its hay protecting leads, permitted four unanswered goals, including two in rapid-fire succession during the second period, in what was a devastating blow to their now fledgling hopes of making the Stanley Cup playoffs. Vancouver has lost five of its last six games, and six straight to the Avalanche, and is on the verge of a monumental late-season collapse.
“We put ourselves in this position and we have to do whatever we can to get back,” captain Markus Naslund said. “I don’t think it was a problem with the effort. It was more the mistakes, giving them odd-man rushes.”

That was a frustrating game to watch.
Canucks were playing so well. Then that Salo penalty where Forsberg did his usual embellishment thing. Colorado scores. Huge momentum change.
How one of the best skaters in the league can go down so quickly when he feels the smallest little tug is beyond me. Maybe he has those electric heated skate things and somehow when someone touches him it causes him to get a tazer like jolt or something?
Any better explanations?

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

Luongo is the focal point on this team, and he has become a new father less than 1 week ago.
How can any human focus (as acutely as an NHL goal tender must) with the emotions of being a new father and being 3000 miles away from his family?
