Cap Issues For Wings Next Season

from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal,
The Wings took on Hossa for this season but GM Ken Holland will have his hands full next year fitting him into the cap because he’s working on a new deal for Henrik Zetterberg (at least $8 million a year) and fellow second-line winger Johan Franzen. Lidstrom, out with a broken nose (he’s lucky an errant puck didn’t smack him in the eye in camp), will also be in the second year of his $7.45-million contract.
a little more on Hossa plus other NHL notes…

ok….
Zetterberg will NOT ask for more than $8 million, and I’m tired of people thinking that re-signing him is going to be a problem for the Red Wings. As I’ve said before, Zetterberg has been quoted saying that he wants to be Wing for life, and he thinks they are ALREADY paying him too much money to play hockey. Does that sound like a guy who wants to test his worth in the free agent market or force Ken Holland to ask Lidstrom if they can pay Hank more than him? NO. Oh, and Lidstrom’s nose was broken in a pre-season game, not camp.
