Capitals Not Happy With Lack Of All-Stars

from the CP via TSN,
...Their coach and some other members of the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference were a tad less diplomatic.
“We know on merit that Nick and Mike and maybe Alex Semin should all be on that, but that’s not how the scenario goes and it’s not because they don’t deserve to be on that,” Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said. “It’s the way the whole thing is situated - the way they pick.”
Goalie Jose Theodore, twice an all-star for other teams, also spoke strongly.
“There are some stars but it’s not all the stars,” Theodore said. “The league should really review the system.”

Let it go, Bruce. If that team keeps some talent together, in a few years you’ll be upset your guys are going to the ASG because it’s more of a burden and bother when your club is used to play 90 to 100 game seasons every year.

Damn, I like Boudreau but this is getting ridiculously clownish. Just stop and be happy that Ovechkin is going anyway.

Under the current system, Ovechkin’s presence is already a ‘gimme’. They need a representative from each team, thus guaranteeing Ovechkin a spot. There’s nothing to be ‘happy’ about there; it’s merely the current system being followed, and indeed Ovechkin is more deserving than any other capital and, depending on how you look at it, more deserving than most if not all other forwards.

The only allstar selection top teir players should be concerened with is the 1st and 2nd team allstars at the end of the year.
Everyone who follows the game knows the ASG is a joke, exactly why reporters don’t put much effort into tearing it apart.
Before the caps start crying look at the west, tkachuk and modano over Zett and Hossa and a whole list of other guys.
Tkachuk alone sums up this game.

Doesn’t Leonsis have any pull with the computer people and voting robots? I’m sure he could have had someone hack the system if he was that worried about his guys getting proper credit. ![]()
Let it go, guys. Just let it go.

local media brought up the all-star snub questions to bruce and he answered them. TSN for some reason decided to do an article on it, I don’t know why. There were a lot of teams with deserving players that should have been there instead of this 1 per team thing.

Oh, and to Jose Theodore, “All Star Game” doesn’t mean that ALL the STARS play in it…
