Captain Chelios Is A Joke

from Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star,

The international game is a young man’s game that places a premium on young legs and the ability to move quickly on the oversized international ice sheet. And yet, there are nine holdovers from the 2002 silver medal-winning team, seven from 1998, one from 1994, one from 1992 and, yes, Chelios from 1984.
There’s also this question, one the Americans have never adequately answered: Why bring back any of the dopes who were a part of 1998’s shameful American team that trashed the athletes’ village?
The players in that group said they would never break the code, never point to those responsible for the vandalism. Which was fine. Except it should have come with a price. It should have cost them the chance to represent the United States again.
To think that Chelios is not only on the team, but the captain of the team, is a joke.
