From the Carolina Hurricanes:
Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed forward Chad LaRose to a one-year contract. The deal will pay LaRose $875,000 for the 2008-09 season.
“This should be the last signing to complete our team heading into this season,” said Rutherford. “We’re glad to come to an agreement and avoid arbitration with Chad.”

Random Hurricanes trivia for anyone who’s interested, from Lord Stanley’s Blog:
One little piece of overlooked fallout from last week’s Erik Cole deal: Rod Brind’Amour and Niclas Wallin are the only players remaining from the 2002 Eastern Conference championship team.
(Technically, David Tanabe is the third, but “buyout pending” keeps him off the list.)

Last signing...they’ve basically done nothing. Dumping Cole was a great move for the rest of the Eastern Conference. Thanks...enjoy watching the playoffs at home again this year Canes fans.
