from Matt Kalman of the Bruins Blog,
Chiarelli stuck to his guns about not commenting on ongoing negotiations — at least the specific negotiations. But the GM acknowledged that he thought Kessel’s agent Wade Arnott was “waging a bit of a media war.”Arnott was recently quoted as saying that there have been no talks.

Yeah, yeah, fine, hard-liner, whatever.
But why do you take this stance when you’re dealing with the guy that everyone seems to believe is the future of your team? To a guy who in three years went from 11 to 19 to 36 goals a year and who doubled his points from year one to year three? To a guy who was a point-per-game player in the playoffs this year? To a guy who went from being a minus 12 to a plus 23 in three years?
Yeah, sure Pete. That’s what this is about.
Does he have a daughter that Kessel knocked up or something?

The problem is Chiarelli gave Bergeron $5m for having one good year. That is why there is no cap space. Kessel had one good year and wants his money, too. He’s also more talented than Bergeron…...Oh and he gave Derek Morris $3M for being a chronic underachiever. When you overpay players it always comes back to bite you.
