Chicago Blackhawks- The Best Team In The League

from Tim Sassone of the Chicago Daily-Herald,
This is rare air for the Blackhawks - a seven-game winning streak, the team’s longest in 27 years, and an 18-6-7 record that has them sitting with the NHL’s elite approaching Christmas.
“That team right now is the best team in the NHL,” said Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault following Saturday’s 3-1 loss to the Hawks at GM Place. “They’ve been perfect in December (8-0-1). Their game is real good.”
Ya think?

Geez..Louise…a guy who probably hasn’t watched a Hawk game in 25 years is now telling us they are the greatest team ever. I really have misgivings about the Blackhawks being “the” team. They haven’t earned anything yet other than a gold star for marketing

I hope they post this article at Joe Louis.
Just last week another “best team in the NHL” took on the Stanley Cup Champions, and lost 6-0.

Agreed w2j2; they need to post this, and other articles like it, in the Joe locker room. Bring it on you little punks!

Three things.
Nobody said the Hawks were the greatest team ever.
I don’t know how much Alain Vigneault of the Canucks has been watching Blackhawks over the last 25 years, but seeing as he coaching an NHL team, he’s probably been follow hockey for more than 25 years. He’s the one who said the Hawks were prefect in December and right now is the best team in the NHL. Nobody else in the story says this.
If you were referring to Tim Sassone as the person who probably hasn’t watched a Hawks game in 25 years, then you’re still completely misguided in you assumption. Sassone’s been covering the Hawks since the 80s. He’s the only reporter who was still regularly covering the Hawks during all the years they sucked.

Since when does a perfect record include a loss? Now call my nit-picky but a perfect record in my book would be getting both points in EVERY game played for a stretch. One team like say…the Detroit Red Wings records a “W” in a game where you record an “L”, that would seem to me to be less than perfect.
I’m actually glad to see the Hawks doing so well and having the rivalry re-newed with the Winged Wheel, it’s been far too long since I actually gave a rip about the Blackhawks…now I actually can care!
