I can’t believe the Devils let him go. Good pick up by Chicago. They’re starting to look like a real stanley cup contender.

Interesting. They let Pahlsson go but sign Madden. I don’t entirely get it, they’re making the same money…

If it doesn’t happen for Chicago this year, it may not happen. Their cap situation is so screwed next year.

Agreed. They are going to blow their entire wad right now.
Let’s see if it works. A first-round exit and all this is wasted.

And Dave Tallon’s probably out of a job as well.

An SC run with Huet as the #1 goalie?
They’d better pot at least 4 a game!

With that offense, they have a chance - if everyone is healthy, of course.
Once the carousel stops spinning and things settle down a little, I’ll have to look at the numbers, but it strikes me that Chicago is doing something a little similar to what Detroit did last year - the Wings offered Hossa a contract because they knew they had a one-year window before long-term contracts for their cornerstone players kicked in. Chicago looks to be loading up for a one-year shot, but with some contracts that will affect them even after the year is over. Detroit added a very talented player, but if it didn’t work out there were no repercussions, whereas with Chicago there will be long-term repercussions.
