via TSN,
The Chicago Blackhawks have re-signed second-line centreman David Bolland, inking the restricted free agent to a five-year deal.
The Toronto native will earn $3.375 million per season throughout the term.

If Bolland’s 19-28-47 are worth (choke) $3.375M per for five years after just one full season, Jiri Hudler has to be worth at least that much. He had 23-34-57 playing mostly on the third and fouth lines. This “perfectly awful contract” (as HJ put it) definitely screws the Wings if they go to arbitration with Happy.
It’s time once again for Tick Tock to pull out that magic wand and do something spectacular where Jiri is concerened. Once the Hossa drama is over and Marian heads off to free agency, the Wings are going to need a guy like Happy.

Chicago = Salary Cap Hell once Kane, Toews and Keith’s contracts come due next season.

Worst part is, those three are all RFAs. People are going to circle like vultures for them.

and yet i fought with a hawks fan at the horse track yesterday who thinks the hawks have room to sign Hossa for a long term deal. I couldn’t get through his head that they will have no money after this year

Kane, Toews, and Keith are all due at the same time?
For some reason I thought they were staggered over a couple or few years. Yikes.
