Chicago Targets Pronger

from the OC Register,
Pronger wore a football-style faceguard — necessitated by the injury suffered Feb. 24 when the follow-through of a shot by Patrick Sharp of the Blackhawks struck him in the face during a 6-3 Ducks triumph — and became a focal point early in the rematch.
“One of their players, to start the whole thing, somebody punched Chris Pronger in the head, with a facemask on,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. “That escalated other things that took place.”

The Ducks calling another team classless… Now that’s good stuff!

There’s a code of conduct out there, to some extent.
—George Parros
“You expect to be protected out there, not only by the referees, but your teammates, and they did a great job.”
—Chris Pronger
Those are the kinds of things everyone else around the league says following a game vs. Anaheim. I’m sure Chicago “out-Ducking” the Ducks won’t change anything, but it sure is funny to see them get a taste of their own medicine. (BTW, what Parros means by “to some extent,” is “We give the cheap shots, and they take them.”)

Absolutely hilarious.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving d-bag or team.

I’m sure the other 29 teams in the league truly feel for the Ducks.
Maybe they should all send a tiny fiddle to Brian Burke’s office?

Clueless, perhaps, but nonetheless happy. This is me smiling:

If you really love the game, even if you hate Pronger, you have to love the way he plays. Look at all this tenacity he generates. He makes people hate to play against him, and it is great. He is definitely one of the top-3 D-men in the game, and while I understand why so many people dislike him, I am a huge fan.

Well you guys are few and far between. He is a waste of a hockey player, but totally fits into Burke’s system of bash-em up hockey. I have no respect for that team whatsoever. Nieds and Selanne are both d-bags for pulling what they did this year. The players who got sent down because of them should be pissed off for the rest of their lifes. The franchise stinks from the GM down. They need to get Gordon Bombay back.

So, you’re saying that just because you don’t like him, you don’t think that he is one of the best defensemen in the world (which he is, factually)?
And oh yeah, most of those Cup-winning franchises just plain “stink.” The Nieds and Selanne thing, although fishy, I think was likely legitimate. If not, then ok, it’s underhanded, but it is allowed in the system. The fact that everything Burke has done is allowed in the CBA just shows how much of a genius he is. Working the system is to way to win and he has done that. The Anaheim Ducks are a model franchise (and apparently other teams think so considering how they’ve added toughness since the ‘07 Cup) thanks to Brian Burke.

NHLJeff, was it the Bombay comment that upset you so much? I didnt know you were such a big Mighty Ducks Fan. And the Franchise is still rotten.

Nobody got sent down because of Nieds and Selanne. Prior to Niedermayer coming back, the 6th slot was occupied by Hnidy/DiPenta. Hnidy was traded for Bochenski. DiPenta has always rotated in and out of the line up.
Prior to Selanne coming back, Sutherby/Bochenski and a number of other spare parts rotated in and out of that position.
No Ducks fans are crying over either of those situations. In fact, all the players were either traded away, or are still on the active roster.
Bitter Bitter little girls….
