It was clean…can’t see why anyone would think that was nasty.

yeah, perfectly fine hit.
in fact, youd wish more hits were like that instead of aimed at guys skulls.
Vik will just have to nail him back when he can.

if anything you might think the goalies playing these pucks like this are setting up their own dudes to get whipped. its like a buddy pass in football. the goalie should be reading the play on who is coming in hard and moving the puck accordingly to avoid plays like this instead of casually going back there like a jack ass to set his guy up to be hammered while someone is coming full steam on the forecheck.

Nice hit. Just an unfortunate head bounce after the collision. If there’s a good reason to get rid of the trapezoid, its to reduce these all to frequent high speed incidents behind the goal line.

Thought it might have been a charge when I saw it live… replay cleared that up - good hit.
Agree with “Nate A” on the trapezoid…

legal… but OUCH. rookie will learn from it, that’s for sure.
whether it endangers players or not, the goalie trapezoid rule is by far the stupidest new rule. i’ve hated it completely since its inception and absolutely think it should go. i think it’s even a flawed premise that not allowing the goalies into the corner really causes that much more scoring. there sure used to be a ton of those awesome goals where the goalie gets stuck misplaying a puck in the corner and has to try and skate and dive back in front of the goal. that was fun stuff.
i think the over-the-glass automatic delay of game rule is pretty dumb too… but that one doesn’t physically endanger defenders so, nevermind

perfection,
The auto delay-of-game is to prevent players from lobbing the puck over the glass instead of taking the icing. With the icing rule that the offending team has to stay on the ice and take an immediate face-off, if you took out the auto delay-of-game, players would be choosing the low-skill play of flipping the puck over the glass to get the whistle and the change of personnel. That rule is required in order to keep the new icing rule relevant.
On topic, clean hit. It was hard to tell at game speed, but clean hit, I don’t think the trapezoid had anything to do with it. It’s not like Neal came from Hedman’s blindside. Victor needs to keep his head up or prep for the hit.

Are you guys blind? he clearly starts to leave his feet before impact. should be a charge at the very least.

yeah, i know what the logic behind the delay of game rule is. it’s just stupid. i like the not being able to change on an icing… why not just extend that to flipping it over the glass. offending team can’t change. still would have an effect on say a team killing a power play. i’ve just seen too many games decided from that call being made at the end of a game when the player absolutely didn’t do it on purpose.
