via TSN,
TSN has learned that the Los Angeles Kings have placed goaltender Dan Cloutier on waivers Friday.
added 3:41pm, from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
Don’t read too much into the Los Angeles Kings’ decision put goaltender Dan Cloutier on waivers today, other than he’ll almost certainly start the season in the minors this season. Considering the NHL’s goalie glut (and the two years left on Cloutier’s contract at $3.1 million per season), there is virtually no chance that anyone would put in a claim for his rights at that price, at this time of year.

Simplest way to end the catcalls is to not have him on the team anymore. Game, set, match for LA.

Well you knew that LaBarbera wasn’t going to the Monarchs this year after last year’s fiasco, no matter how rusty a campy he’s had.
Bernier’s going to get his look at least for 9 games based solely on being the best goalie in camp and exhibition games. By far.
So really this has been Aubin v Cloutier for Manchester and Aubin has been the sharper of the 2.
I’d much rather see Cloutier regain any confidence in the A than attempting to do so with the Kings.
He re-habbed for a few months last year which spawned the catcalls. Dan’s not being willing to share that he was hurt and sucking so horribly while Crawford had his tunnel vision, “You can do it Danny Boy!, your’re #1” thing going on was painful for all to watch. Kings fan or anybody who likes to watch hockey, it was so bad.
The team in front of him don’t trust Cloutier, so why should anyone else? He needs to earn it and not at the expense of everyone else on the Kings.
I say Bernier is ready now and if in 9 games it proves to be a different story, nothing is lost and some valuable experience in speed and timing needed to be successful at the pro level is gained by our best goalie prospect ever. He’s dominated in Juniors, did well for Team Canada and can’t play in the A, so the best competition is the NHL.
Go Kings.

Guess that kinda puts the smackdown on Duhatschek’s column from yesterday, “King’s success hinges on Cloutier”?
