from Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger,
Can the most important player in Devils history teach the team to win again?
The decision to expand the role of Scott Stevens as a coach this season is far from ceremonial. The Devils hope the Hall of Fame defenseman, along with new head coach Jacques Lemaire, can have a positive impact on a team that has been unable to get past the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs since Stevens retired as a player after the 2003-04 season.
Stevens is ready for the challenge.
