COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today a restructuring of the National Hockey League club’s broadcast teams. Jeff Rimer, Bill Davidge and George Matthews will each return to the broadcast booth in 2009-10, while television analyst Danny Gare will not.
Rimer has spent the past two decades calling play-by-play action in the NHL, including the past four seasons with Columbus. He will once again handle those duties on FOX Sports Ohio telecasts, where he will be joined by Davidge as color analyst. Davidge has served in that capacity on the Blue Jackets Radio Network since 2000, while also contributing to the “Blue Jackets Live” pre- and post-game shows on FOX Sports Ohio since 2007.
Matthews will return for his ninth season on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations, WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan, and WWCD-FM, CD101. The club will begin an immediate search for an additional member of the radio broadcast team to partner with Matthews.
“We are very pleased that Jeff, Bill and George will be returning to call Blue Jackets games next season and are excited about teaming Jeff and Bill together on our FOX Sports Ohio telecasts,” said Blue Jackets Vice President of Marketing Marc Gregory. “We are very appreciative of all that Danny has done for our organization, both in and out of the broadcast booth, the past three years. We wish him nothing but the best.”
