from Woody Paige at the Denver Post,
Forsberg and the Avalanche should get together in Denver in the coming season and say a proper goodbye.
One more ride for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Avalanche general manager Francois Giguere has recently added two critical pieces to the team - forward Ryan Smyth and defenseman Scott Hannan. Only one piece remains missing.
Foppa.
One more Cup for Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg....
The Avalanche should allow Forsberg to dictate the terms of his comeback - as Roger Clemens did - and not rush it. And the Avs could get a break on his salary cap number. How about $3 mil for half a season? One more look, and Forsberg will pay for himself. The deal makes dollars and sense.

I love how people refer to players coming back to a place they once worked professionally as “coming home”. Yes, Peter come home to Quebec. Er, I mean Colorado.

Colorado fans tend to forget where their team started. They like the idea of their team winning the SC in its first year ever even though the actual team was built in another city over years just like any other franchise.

Forsberg may not want to play for the Avs. Depending on his ankle, he may not want to play at all and deal with yet another painful rehab. The Avs may not want him at any price because they have moved on and are no longer living in the past. And bringing him back for a half-season doesn’t guarantee him leaving with one more Cup any more than signing Smyth and Hannan guaranteed winning this year.
Once again, I wonder why any professional athlete ever bothers trying to think, when sportswriters are happy to decide where they should play and how long and for how much, and exactly when and how they should retire. Their careers aren’t plotlines, and they don’t have any obligation to live their lives according to what Woody Paige thinks is appropriate.

Why all this hype still about Peter Footsberg anyways? The guys best days are WAY in the past, he’s on 1 foot, everything else has broken down one time or another...Go back to Sweden before you sadly look like Jordan on the Wizards.
