from Harrison Antognioni at the Bennington Banner,
For those whose hockey senses need a little polishing, let me fill you in.
Hockey is an extremely fast sport that displays an equal balance of speed, physicality and finesse. It’s like football without the endless delays, it’s like basketball without the constant touch fouls and it’s like soccer with a lot more speed in a much smaller arena.
Hockey has the best characteristics of just about every sport; it’s amazing to me why the game’s not as mainstream as football, basketball and baseball.
continued & fyi, Harrison is a senior in high school…

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

Other than the fact that he should have said “first outdoor NHL game in the US,” that was a great article. Those are things I think about all the time. Hockey is such an amazing sport. If more Americans would just give it a chance (and the NHL got back on ESPN so that more people would notice it) then I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t be very popular. Obviously, I’m biased, but what can I say..? I think it’s a combination of people already having their minds set that they don’t like it based on public opinion and that so many people don’t understand the game and the rules and don’t want to take the time to learn it.
