Coyotes Prepare For Wings

from Jim Gintonio of the Arizona Republic,
A Coyotes victory would make them the first team to beat both Stanley Cup finalists - they handed the Pittsburgh Penguins (8-1) their only defeat earlier this season.
“They have the ability to dictate games, so how you play against them as a group can say a lot about your play and how you’re going to play together,” Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. “We have to be ready to play a fast game, a very hard game.
“Detroit is a team that competes very hard, and their top players compete very hard, so if you’re not willing to match that, you’re gonna be behind in the game.”
Teams hosting Detroit often find their arenas jammed with Red Wings fans.
Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall said it creates an atmosphere and buzz in the building. He said the Coyotes will use their own fan base as a momentum builder against a team that has a loyal fan base across the country.
The venue for a Red Wings game, he said, could be anywhere, and the excitement would be there.

Gonna be in the house tomorrow night for the first of two Wings games in the PHX this year and like Dan said, it’s always a packed barn full of mostly Wings fans. Should be fun - Go Wings!

This is one game I HAVE to watch. This will prove whether or not the yotes are actually going to be competitive or not (even if they lose). If they win…they’ll make the playoffs this year after a long absence unless Bryzgalov get’s hurt. No big name players + an under-rated goalie may = a good team.
There’s a little place in my heart that’s pulling for the yotes to do well…because…well…just because everyone roots for the under-dog.

I think the litmus test for the Coyotes were the Pittsburgh and San Jose games, not this Red Wings game. Win or lose for the Coyotes, the Red Wings are not the class of the league (at least right now)

If Bettman and the league want to “save” the coyotes and keep them in Phoenix, perhaps they should move the Wings into the same division as the coyotes and chnge the number of inter division games to say oh…..35-40. Anytime the Wings play there it is typically a full building and usually more than 50 % Wing fans.
A lot of teams already raise their ticket prices for games when the Wings are in playing their building. I think following my plan will have the coyotes profitable by…oh…2025??
