from TSN,
For the second straight year the NHL All-Star game will be without one of the game’s biggest stars as Sidney Crosby has pulled out of this weekend’s mid-winter classic in Montreal.
added 4:37pm,
MONTREAL (Jan. 22, 2009)—Martin St. Louis takes the place of Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, who received a record number of votes in All-Star fan balloting but will not participate due to injury.

I can hardly wait to hear the outrage from THN and other MSM pundits.

So I assume the weekend is cancelled?
Also, let’s stop saying “due to injury” and start saying “due to the event’s triviality”. There’s no need to keep the lies alive, I think.

You said it Earl. At least they have two years to figure out what to do with the next ASG or whatever you want to call it.

So Bettman’s Baby Boy can’t make it to the game again? Tough break. Poor Gary! :(

I should have gone in Crosby’s place

Stop complaining, Boris. You said yourself that he was punching you so hard that you didn’t even notice until you saw video after the fact.

In a discussion panel with Darren Pang and John Tortorella, Bob MacKenzie of TSN.ca said something that caught my attention when the announcement was made that Crosby was not going. Near the end of the video, he says, “How ‘bout this: if you’re the Stanley Cup Champion, you do not have to go [to the ASG].” Darren Pang loved the idea.

Probably more like Richard Gere in An Officer and a Gentleman when Louis Gossett Jr. breaks him…
“I got nowhere else to go!”
