Cup Bound

from Ken Campbell of the Hockey News,

It’s safe to say, one would think, that if the Stockholm Red Wings play the way they did in the second round of the playoffs, their players will be getting fitted for Stanley Cup rings just over a month from now.

Of course, if they make as short of work of their next two opponents that they did of the Colorado Avalanche, perhaps we might see the end of the season before we have to star applying sunscreen on a regular basis.

Is it just me or are the Red Wings looking very much the part of Stanley Cup champion?

continued

Ken, you are not going to find many Wings fans who will answer your question.  At this point, we are just trying to avoid a black cat walking in our path.

Truer words have never been spoken, Paul.

Note to self: borrow a Red Wings jersey and hang around with black cats.

What the...?

That was supposed to be:

Sorry, Alanah. Your plan would only work if you were truly a Red Wings fan (black cats are excellent judges of sincerity). Although I must add that your “conversion” would be quite a victory in its own right.

Dream on.  Wings Nation already did its best to break my spirit last year.  (And I returned the jersey promptly and bought a Luongo one!) smile

They might look like Cup Champions now, but not after the Penguins beat them in 6 games in the finals!  big surprise

Break your spirit? big surprise Never! The Chief was merely trying to raise your spirits.

You really should have kept the Wings jersey. (With all due sympathy) The Luongo one didn’t seem to do you, him, or the Canucks much good this season.

I have to say, I love this website (a lot), but the Wings bias really gets old.  It’s Paul’s site, so definitely his to be biased, but just commenting…

Jeff, no way is the KK Hockey section Wings biased.
It just so happens the Wings are now in the final 4, if it was another team, they would be getting the same type of coverage, like I plan for the other three teams that will soon be in the Conference Finals.

You would be surprised that only about 20% of the visitors to KK are from the Detroit market.

It’s May 2nd, not April 1st.

Presuming no injuries happen, either Detroit or Dallas would handily dispatch the Pens. Your time is coming, but it’s not here yet.

Ok, thanks.  I guess it’s just that the Wings fans and A2Y visitors are the most active.  I love the site though, either way.  Definitely my favorite on the web.

Paul, love the Red Wings bias, and the complementary government cheeze.

Keep it up, buddy.

NHLJeff --

I think Paul does an excellent job remaining unbiased in the coverage he presents. Even when he makes a comment in support of the Wings in KK Hockey, A2Y or C&B;posts, he stays level-headed and courteous (unlike many of the rest of us).

I totally agree with you that it is an awesome site though!

Well said, Paul.  Even the players are saying the same thing:  We haven’t won anything yet.  It’s the NHL playoffs and we still have ways to go.

That doesn’t stop us from celebrating for a little while, though, right?

LOL!
