from Darren Dreger of TSN,
Interest from at least five teams is believed to have been narrowed to two with Curtis Joseph contemplating the resumption of his NHL career in either San Jose or Calgary.
Sources tell TSN both the Flames and Sharks are keenly interested in bringing the 40 year old goaltender on board, with Joseph expected to make his decision this weekend, if not sooner, perhaps as early as today.

Curt Joseph was run out of St Louis by Mike Keenan.
I find it very hard to think he would actually consider Calgary. If he winds up there, my guess it would be his intention to shorten Iron Mike’s Calgary career.

Which wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing, in my opinion. I hold firm to the belief that any success that the Flames can muster is in spite of Mike Keenan, not because of Mike Keenan.

He’d be better off in San Jose, due to the fact they have close to 10 million in cap space and real talent unlike the Flames.

Oh yeah, since Iginla, Huselius, Regehr, Phaneuf, Langkow, Tanguay, and Kiprussoff really have no talent…

Iginla and Kiprussoff are the only two with talent on that team. But if you look at it this way, the Flames are the recycled Sharks team anyways. They got all our tossed away players and coach. They won’t amount to anything this season anyways.

I can’t really see a downside to bringing CuJo onto the Flames, Kipper can use the rest as well as the push from an established NHL goalie.
It’s pretty clear that Iron Mike has no confidence in McElhinney aside from mop-up duty when he pulls out the hook and yanks Kipper. As well, the Flames are pretty much up against the cap this year, so I wouldn’t expect any big moves around the trade deadline from Flames management.
