from Andrew’s Dallas Stars Page,
Got some interesting tidbits from the Stars about this Sunday’s game not being on carried on local TV. It ends a pretty impressive streak for the team.
*It will end a streak of 1,101 consecutive Stars games (including playoff games) televised in Dallas/Fort Worth.
*974 of those broadcasts were regular season games and 127 were playoff games.

Sobering indeed, Primis.
If I have DirecTV, I can watch Stars games on FSN, or FSN Plus but not Versus.
If I have Dish Network or Verizon Fios, I can watch on Versus but not FSN Plus.
If I have Center Ice, I can watch the Colorado feed of the Stars game tonight, but all others are blacked out.
If I don’t have cable or satellite, I can catch an occasional game on KDFI.
With broadcast scheduling like this, sure makes it difficult to attract new fans to hockey, especially in our football-crazed state.

Heck - not even all teams in “hockey markets” have all their games televised.
For instance (and this is just the first example I could find on nhl.com): Saturday, March 27 - Calgary at Boston, 1PM EST: only TV is Flames PPV, no Boston TV.
And speaking as a Sens fan, I know there have been Saturday nights this season where CBC has opted not to pick up the Sens vs. an American team in the 7PM EST slot. This effectively creates a blackout for Ottawa fans: because of CBC’s Saturday night exclusivity, Sportsnet can’t even pick it up if they *want* to.
This happens occasionally to Edmonton and Calgary (where HNIC doesn’t opt to show their Saturday night game, leaving fans without TV coverage), but so far as I can tell, it doesn’t happen to any Canadian team as often as it does the Sens.
