Dan Wood Will Be Talking Hockey

As the Ducks announced Aug. 24, I am leaving the Register in order to serve as the color analyst on the team’s radio broadcasts. It is a tremendous opportunity, one I am very excited about, but there are still pangs of sadness after having spent nearly 30 years, more than half my life, as a professional sportswriter. Nearly a third of that time was at the Register.
A lot has changed in the newspaper business since I began in 1980, much of it in the past two or three years, and not all of it for the better, in my humble opinion. Still, my love for newspapers is matched perhaps only by my love for hockey, and I wish nothing but the best for the industry and my many longtime, dedicated colleagues who continue to steadfastly embrace the idea, and the importance, of responsible, credible journalism

I introduced myself to Dan during the Ducks/Wings playoff series this past season. He seemed like a nice guy, one you wish you had more time to talk with but that was not the case. Good luck Dan and I will be listening.
