from ESPN,
Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro is attached to play legendary coach Vince Lombardi in the theatrical motion picture “Lombardi” being developed by ESPN Films, Andell Entertainment and the NFL.
Now my question, if a movie were to be made about Scotty Bowman, which actor would you like to see portray him?

Phillip Seymour Hoffman (sp?)—with makeup, of course. He could play both “young” (Habs era) and “old” Scotty. Robert Duvall and others could only play the older version.

The real question is, who would play Bettman?
I’m thinking Peter Dinklage, but only because I don’t know if the guy who played Tattoo on Fantasy Island is still alive.

I have to steal Adam’s comment and point out that DeVito would be better cast as Bettman.

Deifinitely Robert Duvall.

Sadly, Herve Villechaiz is not, but good call.
Paul, I thought of Jason Alexander too, but he lacks the gravitas of Bowman and I don’t like him. I’d rather see Paul Giammati play Bowman than Jason Alexander.

Elliotte Friedman tweets- Jeffrey Tambor.
Others have said via Twitter, James Gandolfini, Rip Torn, Phillip Seymour and John Malkovich.

Paul Reubens (PeeWee Herman) is the obvious choice for Bettman. He could play the part on his knees.

I was thinking of this guy to play the commish, Ladies and gentlemen, Gary Bettman!

Given Bowman’s reputation for odd behavior and the metal plate in his head, I think Christopher Walken should play Bowman. Walken is quite odd and has already played a character with a metal plate in his head. (the psycho drill instructor in Biloxi Blues)

Who’d play you Paul?

Also no longer with us, but Bosley from Charlie’s Angels would have been perfect for Bowman, he even had the raspy voice.
As for Bettman, I’d go with the midget prince from Shrek who was eaten by the dragon. Not saying that I wish that for Bettman, not saying that I don’t either. I’m just not saying.

Wow, I’m a dork.
I saw the headline and immediately wondered:
a) How De Niro was goign to play Matthew Lombardi…
and b) Why someone would make a film about Matthew Lombardi in the first place.
