Dealing With A Make-Shift Lineup

from Ted Leonis of Ted’s Take,
We lost by one goal. We lost yet another player to injury.
Last year, we were fourth in man games lost to injury. We are giving it a good run again this season to be a leader in man games lost.
Tom Poti was hurt in the first period. Hence we didn’t have Poti, Jurcina and Morrisonn on D in the lineup. We didn’t have Semin, Knuble, Gordon, Laing and Nylander in the lineup front. We didn’t have Theodore either in goal. That is goofy, huh? $25 million in payroll NOT playing.
We still could have won that game but missing this many players does scramble the game plan and the rhythm of the team. No one feels sorry for us. We can’t use injuries as an excuse. We just have to tough it out.

Montreal was missing their top forward (Gionta) and their top defenceman (Markov).
Their game plan worked to a T, they clogged the neutral zone and they completely shut down Ovechkin.
Washington got outworked and outhustled all game long.
It was only a one goal game because they found their rhythm in the last 3 minutes.
Too little too late, stop crying about injuries and back to back games, every team deals with the same thing!

Ted needs to quit the bitching…...like his team is the only one that has injuries! Give me a break! I think Vancouver is going to the junior teams for its players now, and Pittsburgh had just one player from its starting blue line healthy recently.

If those same players are hurt next year, it will not be 25 million in salary not playing. Laing, Gordon, and Semin are all in for raises. Semin is going to demand 8 million a year. Just wait and see. And this is the last year you get Fleischmann and Backstrom at under a million a year too. You better hope Nylander leaves for Russia Fat Teddy.

“Hence” ted is pizza the hutt!
If you’re goaltending is good enough you don’t need to score more than 2 goals a night to win. Usually that depends on your defense. Washington has no defense. The emperor has no clothes and has to order them from the blair mens extended catalog.
And honestly, none of those players mentioned due for a salary bump besides backstrom and semin are actually nhl caliber players. The capitals could replace them with the actors from the mighty ducks movies and have no difference in the way the team plays (i.e. “Hey! There’s ovechkin standing at center ice, let’s pass it to him!)
