Despite Broken Thumb, Boyle Continues To Play

from David Pollak of Working the Corners,
A few times this season, I’ve asked Dan Boyle to talk about his game, wondering frankly if he sees some of the same deficiencies that others, including his coach, have and what the explanation might be. The last time, Boyle talked a little, then politely suggested I ask again in a couple weeks.
I asked again today. Turns out Boyle has been playing this season with a broken thumb on his right hand. It’s healed to the point he’ll talk about it now.
“I don’t want to use it as an excuse so I didn’t want to say anything, but it is what it is. I’ve been playing with a broken thumb for a month and a half,” Boyle said. “I’m looking forward to being healthy again and I’m definitely feeling better than I have in about a month. It just sucked it happened.”
