from Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger,
It will be Brendan Shanahan’s call.
The Devils want the veteran winger, but general manager Lou Lamoriello told me on Thursday that Shanahan will make the decision as to whether he will re-sign with the club. An unrestricted free agent with interest from other teams, Shanahan is expected to make his decision by the end of next week.
So what is the holdup?
“I wouldn’t say it’s financial,” Lamoriello explained. “I want to make sure this is what he wants. He has other opportunities. Brendan is very meticulous, very professional. He has other opportunities and he’ll make the decision.”
