Now Gainey is faced with a truly difficult decision and less than a week to make it.
If Ryder was the cog that would lead Montreal to land a world-class talent like Marian Hossa, it would be difficult for Gainey not to pull the trigger.
However, if a Ryder-for-Alex Tanguay deal was on the table, would it really make sense for Gainey to pull off such a deal with Flames GM Darryl Sutter? It’s hard to believe that whatever added offense Tanguay would provide, if any, would offset Ryder’s locker room presence. Not to mention the fact that the Newfoundland native appears to have re-discovered his scoring touch.
