Discussing the Staal Hit On Stajan

The hockey guys of Hockey Central at Sportsnet debate the Staal hit on Stajan.  Blindside hit or not?

Watch the hit here if you missed it earlier.

Also, Vicki Hall of Flames Insider turned to Twitter to take a small sampling of what some hockey people thought of the hit.

When even the talking heads are directly opposed to one another in their opinions on hits to the head, how the hell are we supposed to make any sense of the situation. Not to mention Campbell’s “integrity.” The rule is a joke, but not because it ‘will eliminate hits’ but because no one can agree on what the fuch it means! Kypreos is a douche.

Blindside?!  Hit to the head?!

Neither of those things are true.  Not even close.

Staal is coming from the front.  Stajan was admiring his pass.  Staal hit him in the shoulder.

And…Stajan’s head CLEARLY snapped forward after he was hit…meaning, that he wasn’t hit in the head.  Because that would go against the laws of gravity…or something.

Did Maclean even watch the video?

Close.  Fixed now.
This hit was obviously well below the head.  As for “blindside”...the point of contact was Stajan’s chest.  A player is still responsible for watching where he’s going.  Every kid playing peewee hockey knows to keep their head up.
Whoever the jackwagon on the right is needs to take off those gigantic homer glasses and pull his head out of his azz.

The league has reviewed the hit and says it was a good one.  No action will be taken against Staal.

Good.  Because it was a good, clean hit.

Good.  He got the wind knocked out of him with square in the chest hit.
