from Perry Lefko at Sportsnet,
As a leader in the dressing room and on the ice, Peca is an impact player.
As a player with a storied career, he certainly qualifies.
As a premier faceoff guy, he’s among the best.
But he’s also a guy coming off a serious knee injury, the second of his career. It usually takes an athlete at least a year and quite likely two to fully recover from a major knee operation. Even though athletes are in prime condition, there are fast-twitch muscles that need to mentally learn to fire at the same pace and frequency after an operation as before.

If the Leafs do not sign him they are dismissing a pat of the puzzle that is sure to make them better (when in the lineup).
Hopefully they can create some cap space. One also has to remember that at least 3 of their signed will be playing with the Marlies.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

He’d be a perfect fit in Detroit.
I mean, if you’re not going to have a second line, at least you can have a really effective third line. He’s old, coming off injuries, and has great leadership skills. He fits the profile of a Wings signee perfectly.
