Don’t Even Call Them Hockey Fans

from the Calgary Sun,

The early Sunday morning beating of an Oilers jersey-clad Andrew Parker on 4 St. S.W. by who he described as four or five men wearing Flames sweaters is being investigated by city police.

Flames boss Ken King said if it’s true, the team would immediately disown such fans.

“We have no interest in having any fans who’d even think of doing such a thing,” said King while on his way to Edmonton to attend tonight’s Flames-Oilers game.

“I’d be happy to invite them back and refund their jersey money and not be associated with them or have them in our building or at any other event.”

So a bunch of Flamers beat up a Coiler?

Weird. Usually it’s the Flamers getting beat up in such hate crimes.

Sad.

The intensity and passion of the fans out there rivals football firms in Europe.  However, attacking a single man with many without provocation is cowardly and appalling.  Good for the Flames for offering to refund their jersey money and banishing them.  Derek from Cloud9 Sports
