Don’t Expect Big Names To Be Moved By Deadline

The upcoming NHL tradeline of March 4 won’t be about Vinny Lecavalier or Ilya Kovalchuk or Alex Kovalev.

It’s going to be Mark Recchi’s day, and Niclas Havelid’s day and Ian Laperriere’s day. It’s the only day of the NHL season when aging veterans, steady defensemen and gritty third-liners become stars of the show.

My expectation is that there will be plenty of action on trade day, but I believe that the majority of players will be dealt for second-, third- and fourth-round picks.
