Don’t Let Doan Play

from the Ottawa Citizen,
The federal Liberals want the Conservative government to push for a lineup change to Team Canada at the upcoming world hockey championship because of ethnic slurs that were allegedly made by a player toward a francophone referee more than a year ago.
The allegations, which sparked two lawsuits, revolve around an incident at a December 2005 NHL game involving Phoenix Coyotes forward Shane Doan and a francophone linesman. An NHL investigation absolved Mr. Doan of any wrongdoing.

Once again, mindless politicians are getting involved in trivial matters that don’t concern them. The ONLY reason the Liberal Party of Canada is doing this is to try to score a few points with Quebec voters.
If they’d elected a better leader than the bland, hapless Stephane Dion, they wouldn’t need to stoop to this desperate level to drum up whatever support they can for an upcoming federal election.

“Alleged” ethnic slurs.
Nice to know that whatever the nation or the culture, politicians around the world are the same. If they would put a tad more effort into actually doing their jobs and serving the people who elected them, instead of trying to curry favor by looking busy, we’d all be so much better off that it’s not even funny.

So they don’t want Doan to play for Team Canada because of ethnic slurs, but had no problem letting Bertuzzi play for Canada despite his background?
