Ducks About To Get Stronger On Defense

from Dan Wood of Ducks Blog at the OC Register,
No one would expect Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin to step seamlessly back into the lineup after having missed nearly five months because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Then again, no one except perhaps Beauchemin himself would have expected him to be where he is now, on the verge of a return to action as the Ducks prepare for their final two NHL regular-season games and, hopefully, a Stanley Cup playoff appearance.
Beauchemin received full medical clearance Sunday and, as long as there are no setbacks before then, is a good bet to play Friday night against the Dallas Stars at Honda Center.
Veteran defenseman Bret Hedican, who has been out since Feb. 26 because of ongoing back problems, is also a possibility to play Friday or in Saturday’s regular-season finale against the Phoenix Coyotes, Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said after a two-hour practice session Tuesday at Honda Center.
