Ducks Have Concerns Heading Into Game 4

from Dan Wood of Ducks Blog at the OC Register,
A 2-1 series lead over the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings would be cause for at least some sense of accomplishment in many NHL locker rooms.
The Ducks had far too many areas for concern to harbor any such sentiment Wednesday as they prepared for Game 4 of their second-round playoff matchup Thursday night at Honda Center.
Dealing with repeated inquiries regarding referee Brad Watson’s quick whistle that wiped out what would have been a tying goal by Detroit’s Marian Hossa late in the third period of Tuesday night’s 2-1 Ducks victory was only the start.
“We got a break,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said, boiling down the controversial call into simple, short truth.

stfu DMN, the Ducks take more cheap shots after every whistle than the Wings do in an entire series. Go crawl back under that rock…

I think he was talking more about getting cross-checked in the back of the head, not the elbow by Holmstrom.

Has anyone seen/heard any MSM account that bothered to mention Wisniewski was in the act of crosschecking Holmstrom when Datsyuk’s shot hit him? I sure haven’t.
Maybe if his right arm had been lower, instead of raised to use his stick as a battering ram, the shot might have hit him in the elbow or shoulder?

Kudos to Niedermayer for accepting responsibility for all of the head punches and cross-checks the Ducks have been throwing around after the whistle in this series. It takes a real man to…what?...oh, he wasn’t talking about the Ducks’ dirty play? You say he was talking about Homer’s love-tap to Wisniewski’s noggin while trying to avoid being mugged in front of Hiller? And he was talking about one cross-check from Mule? My mistake.
Honestly, Carlyle and his saintly Ducks whined more about incidents that pale in comparison to the Ducks dirty play than Babs and the Wings would ever think of doing. If that quick whistle had cost the Ducks the game, Carlyle would still be in the Honda Center’s media room crying up a storm.
As for Neidermayer’s comments, well, they’re just beyond ridiculous.
