Ducks Motivated By Patton & Picasso

via David Pollak of Working the Corners,
In the Ducks locker room, there’s a board upon which inspirational quotes are written.
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.” — General George S. Patton.
“I am always doing things I can’t do. That’s how I get to do them.” — Picasso (famous artist).
The first seemed a little intense. The second? Well, maybe a little cryptic, but at least everybody now knows that Picasso was a famous artist.

In honor of Prog-whore and Perrywinkle, they actually changed Patton’s quote to read: “The object of hockey is not to play better than your opponent but to maim the other bastards so they can’t play at all.”
My fondest hope is to see that series go the full games and to have Prong-whore turn the puck over late in the third overtime of Game 7, thereby allowing the Sharks to score on a two-on-one breakaway. If he trips over his own stick and breaks his ankle trying to get back into position, I’ll just consider that and extra added bonus.

Anyone else not surprised the Ducks would need to be reminded who Picasso was?

Pronger tried elbowing the quote on the wall first, before someone told him that you read it. In response, he tried headbutting it, until someone read it to him.
Afterwards, he made his way to the bathroom to elbow the urinal.

I’m waiting for everyone that was up in arms over what Jack Edwards said to come in here and say the Ducks are disrespectful for using Patton’s quote as motivation.
Any takers?
