from Dan Arritt of the LA Times,
Steve Kampfer, a fourth-round pick of the Ducks in 2007, remains hospitalized in Ann Arbor, Mich., after he was attacked by a University of Michigan football player early Sunday morning.
Kampfer, 20-year-old defenseman on Michigan’s hockey team, was thrown head first onto the sidewalk after he and a friend were confronted by a group of young men, university police said. A Ducks spokesman said that Kampfer suffered a fractured skull.

Tell me that football player isn’t on steroids…..he’s also got “short man complex” most likely. Though I would stay away from wrestlers…they’re dangerous and sick in the head most of the time.

I agree.
Do the universities test their athletes for steroids?

Do the universities test their athletes for steroids?
In general, I would suspect not. With so many athletes competing in a wide variety of sports, including intramural, the cost would be astronomical - and smaller schools in particular would be strapped in trying to find the funding.
There might be random testing of a few players from each team in the sports more known for steroid use, but I’m guessing that would be the extent of it.
More likely steroids had nothing to do with it - at 2:25 am on a Sunday, I suspect alcohol. Nothing on campus is as scary as a boozy college athlete early in the morning, underage or not. Goodness knows I had to be extremely careful of what my male classmates might do, and that was on a small campus a couple decades ago. Watching your own drink in case somebody slips something in it is just the start.
