Early Options For NHL Teams Traveling To Europe Next season

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,

If anyone thought the NHL’s regular-season games in Europe were a short-term experiment, guess again.

The league wants to expand to six teams next fall, up from four, and have approached the following clubs to gauge their interest: Minnesota, Carolina, Boston, Columbus, Phoenix and San Jose. Sources from all six teams confirmed as much but also stressed that it doesn’t mean for sure they are going over. It remains early in the planning stages.

I hope every one of those teams tells Lil’ Gary to kiss their ass. There is absolutely nothing for those teams to gain by going. Like the Wings experienced this year, they’ll lose pre-season prep time. They’ll expose their players to playing after major “jet lag”. And they’ll spend the critical first two games of the season focused on everything but hockey.

Lil’ Gary, the world’s biggest jackass, likes these “theatrical” events. Hopefully, the owners will see them for exactly that…nothing more than stage shows. At some point a majority of the owners have to see that bending over for this little prick gets them nothing more than a little tingling feeling in the, ah, posterior.
