Montreal/Philadelphia
Pittsburgh/New York Rangers
Full credit to the Washington Capitals for great season and to the Philadelphia Flyers for a great comeback after most people were picking the Caps to win game 7.

Philly’s second goal was BS

you can be bitter all you want, the caps d-man played the puck and got checked and his momentum took him to go into the goalie while thoreson never went in the crease or touched huet therefore no call.
that being said, it was a great series all around and you couldn’t ask for better play from either team. it was a shame one had to lose.

Neither of those matchups really intrigues me. Hopefully they’ll be hard fought and well-played. And may Avery continue his immature (though brilliant in a wtf kind of way) antics, on the way to a beat down.
Now all we need is for San Jose/Calgary to finish. Though I’m crossing my fingers for a triple OT thriller.

I would buy that if 9 out of 10 times any offensive player driving a d-man into the goalie wasn’t called a penalty, but that’s not how it goes. It would be nice to have better consistency from the refs/league, but so would winning the lottery and I think that’s much more likely.
You’re right about the series. It was a lot of great play and a great story. I didn’t get to enjoy the meta-view because I was too busy having a breakdown from the stress of watching all that.

Explanation on Philadelphia’s second goal at 9:47 of the second period
Explanation on Philadelphia’s second goal at 9:47 of the second period – Washington’s Shaone Morrisonn plays the puck and Philadelphia’s Patrick Thoresen lays a legal body check on Morrisonn. No Philadelphia player makes contact with Washington goaltender Cristobal Huet (Rule 69). This play is not reviewable.

Going to be bitter about the refs’ (non) call on Philly’s second goal for a long time.
