Emery May Be Facing Surgery

Michael Leighton started his third straight game in goal for the Flyers last night in place of Ray Emery, who underwent an MRI yesterday on his sore left hip.
A team source told the Daily News that Emery could have a torn labrum that may require surgery.
General manager Paul Holmgren said the results from the MRI were not immediately available yesterday.
“It seems to be an issue with a lot of goalies in the league and we’re hoping to learn from what Ray underwent today,” Holmgren said. “A lot of goalies have this issue because of the way they play, so I think it’s probably something like that.”

But I think you’ll see some Marty Biron rumors first. Cheap and is on a one-year deal. I can’t see Halak moving out of Montreal.

Too bad for Razor. Prior to his first injury, Emery was one of the top Canadian born netminders in the league, statistically speaking. Shame for a guy who has apparently righted several wrongs off the ice. I wish him a speedy recovery.
The only good that can be seen from this is that he may have been able to price himself out of the Flyers organisation had he continued with his stellar play and competitive numbers. Now the Flyers’ brass is aware of what he can still do, but may be able to bargain him down on price…
