Enough Excuses

from David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail,

Hey, it’s like Jimmy Buffet sings in Margaritaville: Some people say there’s a woman to blame, but I know it’s my own damn fault.

If the Leafs want to know who is to blame for their predicament, stop crying about the referees and look in the mirror.

Every team has injuries. The best ones get the rest of the players to work hard to compensate, not play as if they forgot everything they were taught about the game.

Playoff teams are not outscored 68-46 in the first period and 78-65 in the third, as the Leafs have been this season.

And due to silly players that would rather lose with a team that doesn’t want them they will suck next year too.

All that is true, but it doesn’t change the fact that that goal on Saturday should not have counted… Langenbrunner lifted the goalie off the puck so his team mate could poke it in the net… is that not the definition of goaltender interference?

Makes no diff, this team waited way to long to play well - same as the past 2 years.  This proves it is not the coaching… though Maurice is done as of June 1st I would imagine.

I am a true-blue, Leaf lifer.

And I hate this year with this team.  I have never seen a bigger team of whiners and crybaby’s that make millions of dollars.  Yeah, they lost because of two bad calls.  Whoopie.  How many calls went their way when Nikky “I-don’t-skate” Antropov used his stick as a 6 foot hook all season?

Exaclty like the article says.  4 points down the tubes to crappy southeast teams.  Don’t blame the refs or Broduer or the Sens or God or even JFj anymore.  They did it to themselves.  I personally would be embarrassed if this team made the playoffs after the years pitiful season.
