Enough Rumors

EJ Hradek is on NHL Live and started discussing rumors and how someone on the internet may get 1 right out of 100 and then will say, “You see, I got it right, look at me, I am the best.”
EJ says he has had enough and I tend to agree.

With that said, KK will continue to deliver hockey news as it breaks…

Completely agree with what EJ is saying, but to take it a step further I think that the majority of rumours that are out there are highly unlikely to actually come to light - whether it be from the internet or someone in the mainstream media.  I think that the big difference is that although highly unlikely to actually happen, those that come from mainstream media probably have a grain of truth in there somewhere, where as nearly 1000% of the rumous started on the internet are completely rediculous!

I dont mind reading all the rumors truthfully, and from all sites.
I have 3 classifications, the sites that tell it like it and back it up with links ie; KuklasKorner, Spector, etc.
Those sites I think are informative.
TSN columnists like Bob McKenzie I appreciate, Ive counted over the years the statements that some TV personnel have made regarding potential trades and such, and Bob is always bang on, and seems to know a lot of players and agents personally and has legitimate information.
Most other sites I find are pure fiction, speculation and just a lot of BS within the forums.

So, I classify them like this:
A - Excellent
B - Lame
C - A Joke

There is someone out there sitting on a goldmine: A site where every trade rumor can be run through an NHL ‘97-like filter that either confirms or rejects the trade based on the salary cap hit. It’s gotta happen one day…

Then again, that would really lessen the amount of people willing to pay to access super secret message boards for “inside” information…

I like hearing of deals that were close to happening but never did.  the little tidbits that pop up here or there.  Like Patrick Roy almost coming to Detroit, or Joe Sakic who almost signed with the Rangers.  They usually don’t pop up until way after the fact, but they’re fun to think about.  The latest was supposidly the Sharks offered up Nabokov and Carle to the Flyers for Forsberg.  If thats true, then philly continues to make terrible moves.

Really though, I’ll read most rumors that arn’t in message boards and written by 13 year olds.
