Enroth Headed Back to AHL

Soon it will be announced that Sabres goalie Jhonas Enroth is headed back to Portland of the AHL. Ryan Miller is expected to make his return tonight against the Washington Capitals.
Despite a season stat line that reads like this - 4 starts, 2-1-1 record, 3.43 GAA, .876 save percentage - the 22-year old Swede held down the fort very well in Miller’s absence. He didn’t seem the least bit overwhelmed by the spotlight as he scratched and clawed his way to helping his team gain a little traction in the standings. The Sabres picked up 5 out of 6 possible points on their road trip.
While the criticism over sending him down is inevitable, a few good games isn’t enough to change the fact that Enroth is still a work in progress and is better served getting more AHL starts.
Patrick Lalime, who is due to see action in a tough upcoming stretch of games, has to be running out of chances to save his job. If his failure to win any games continues then you have to think consideration will be given to cutting him loose and bringing Enroth back to stay.
