Ericsson acute appendicitis, underwent surgery this afternoon. He won’t be available for Detroit’s next game.
- Correction ... Ericsson is expected to return to action for the Wings’ next game. That’s the team statement at least.

I find that hard to believe. I had my appendix removed in February and was barely able to sit up by myself for at least 4 days after surgery and was still very uncomfortable in moving about 8 days after the surgery. The Dr. told me no physical activity for at least a month (I was ready to hit the gym after about 2 weeks but waited the full month). Still, I don’t see how anyone could play in a playoff game just a few days after going through the surgery—no matter how minor they consider it to be.

Wow. That’s a quick recovery time for appendicitis.
