Escape Clause

In a development that may stoke debate about Anaheim Ducks general manager Brian Burke’s future with the club, team owner Henry Samueli has been accused of securities fraud and could soon face criminal charges....
“The only way he could get out of the deal with Anaheim without their permission is if his contract has a specific provision that provides an escape clause if the team runs into financial uncertainties,’’ a lawyer in the hockey industry said yesterday, adding a criminal investigation of the owner could qualify.
