“We’re disappointed that we haven’t had an extra day’s rest. It’s a double-whammy, the quick turnaround and back-to-back games [to open the finals]. We’re disappointed because we think when you win a series in five games or less, that you have earned an opportunity to have a few more days of rest.
“But at the same time, we understand and we’re not going to dwell on it. Because we don’t want to lose our focus with the job at hand. It is what it is. Let’s play.”
-Wings GM Ken Holland. More on the Wings injuries from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.

The funny part is that even after screwing Detroit by doing this the NHL and NBC are still going to get hammered because they’ll end up against the NBA finals at least one night in the middle of the week.
God, it’s so depressing to see my favorite sport run by a bunch of malevolent incompetents.

I can’t imagine what would happen in the NBC programming department if Games One and Two go into overtime.

Are the Red Wings starting with pre-emptive excuses,so if they lose they can blame the schedule? Just asking.

I for one am ticked off that the games are both on the weekend, as I have things to do. Starting on Tuesday, then going Thursday, Saturday, etc. would work better for me. ![]()
And do you speak any languages other than English and Snark? Just asking.

I’m not sure what priveleges winning in five games or less should warrent. Hopefully, there’ll be an officiating advantage for the team that won in four games. Some sort of reward should be awarded for that accomplishment.
That being said, I don’t like back to back games in the final. But that’s a television induced price that the NHL is forced to pay. I’m not sure it’s a definite advantage to either team.

Man, the Ducks really fubarred em up. I’m not really a fan of the “we’re injured!” outlook…don’t tell your opponent that.

I am genuinely curious… how do you decide which words to capitalize? This has been driving me nuts for a while. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Is there a set of rules you follow? Do you have the University of Chicago Style Manual next to you? That would mean I’ve been doing it wrong all these years… dammit. English was never my strong suit.
