That’s never going to change.  As long as the NHLPA doesn’t impose a gag order with legally enforceable penalties upon those who spill the beans, a player’s email will be CC’ed to an agent, the agent will forward that to the media, and the league sycophants, those with “sources” to please in the NHL’s front office, and even the most open and independently-minded journalists will receive their information from hearsay and leaks.

The big problem is that the players seem to receive the same treatment.
